Moliere holds each of us accountable when he asserted that “It is not only for what we do that we are held responsible, but also for what we do not do.” Responsible Engineering and Living 2022 (REAL2022) strives to inspire every individual to practise and foster responsible engineering and living. REAL2022 aims to bring all stakeholders, enthusiasts, and experts from academia, industry, policy arenas, and the general public together to discuss challenges, sharpen existing solutions, and formulate novel means to advance responsible engineering and living. This symposium will disseminate recent progress and promote collaborations to maximize opportunities for innovative solutions. Topics of interest include resource and energy conservation, waste reduction, nature-friendly engineering and architecture, and sustainable vibrant living.

Dr. Graham Reader is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Windsor. He served as the Dean of the Faculty from 1999 to 2010, and as Special Advisor (CEI) to the University President from 2010 to 2011. June 2011. He has earned degrees in Engineering, Arts and Management and has been involved in powertrain and related research areas since 1970 and his particular areas of interest are Diesel engines, Stirling engines and Underwater Intervention Systems. He has published 5 books and over 350 articles and has taught at Universities in the UK, Alberta and Ontario. He worked in the UK Mining Industry and was a Commander in the Royal Navy prior to coming to Canada.

The Growing Greenhouse Vegetable Sector in Ontario -- Opportunities and Challenges
Dr. Fadi Al-Daoud is the greenhouse vegetable specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA). His portfolio includes vegetables and other edible crops grown in controlled environments, such as greenhouses, warehouses and vertical farms. After earning his doctorate from the Department of Biology at McMaster University with a specialization in molecular plant pathology, Fadi worked at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Fredericton, New Brunswick, and in the Department of Plant Agriculture at the University of Guelph in Guelph, Ontario. He has conducted both applied and fundamental research of horticultural and field crops, and has experience communicating his research to the scientific community and producers. Today, he works in collaboration with producers, researchers and industry partners to advance controlled environment agriculture in Ontario.
